  • Overview

    The Product Marketing Manager will focus on the Transportation product line to insure achievement of division goals by managing existing products and programs for applicable market segments.   This includes setting the overall direction for our product lineup and key product line enhancements, seeking alignment with the Sales and Business Development teams, Engineering, Operations and other key departments to meet the objectives of the business. 

     

    The Product Manager must define segmentation, targeting and positioning for the products in the marketplace and manage the product line P&L; volume, pricing, COGs, margins, marketing support.   Ensuring cross-functional interactions occur internally and supporting customer needs externally will be critical to the role.  Providing leadership on product portfolio, communications, distribution, related services, PSI (Production, Sales, Inventory) and overall life cycle (product line and SKU level) management are also key facets of the position.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Act as the lead for the Transportation segment, taking Marketing leadership of new product innovation while supporting our current and evolving product lineup with strategic tools to grow the business
    • Develop and support the strategic plan for these segments and coordinate with the Director of Marketing for the business unit to create business unit plan
    • Act as main liaison between our Sales team (customer focused) and engineering / quality / manufacturing to ensure development of winning products or services. Have the ability to to articulate technical details into applicable sales savvy materials
    • Manage Product Plan / Service Plan for segment and responsible for new additions to meet needs or to capitalize on opportunities identified
    • Portfolio management to include SKU additions and lifecycle monitoring for phase out
    • Develop insights based on research and create opportunities for product development
    • Identify opportunities for pricing adjustments to achieve results and collaborate with internal Marketing Analyst, mindful of horizontal and vertical alignment
    • Identify trends of market and competitors impacting segment
    • Collaborate with Analysts on market forecasts
    • Be the subject matter expert for your channels of business, recommending actions to improve business results to achieve quarterly and annual targets. This includes advertising, sales and customer training, in-store merchandising, promotions and campaigns
    • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders through persuasive oral and written communications, including sales presentations, strategic planning, PMO and commercial routines
    • Prepare line reviews for key customers or internal groups
    • Develop a regular competitive review for each product along with annual Strategic Plan
    • Provides technical support and materials to sales department, channel partners
    • Provides sales support by attending conventions, trade shows/meetings and seminars

    Qualifications

    Education, Experience, Certifications:

    • College degree, MBA preferred
    • Project management experience a plus.
    • 5 years in Marketing, technical marketing skills a plus
    • Automotive, Material Handling or Energy Storage background preferred.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in creating business case and executing product development plans that have resulted in profitable growth.
    • Demonstrated cross-functional team leadership.

    • Must be proficient with Microsoft suite of products.

     Travel, other requirements:

    • Self starter that is self-motivated and committed to team and company objectives.
    • Team player with agility and adaptability with the willingness to change the status quo as strategies of our business evolve Entrepreneurial spirit.
    • Travel up to 25% will be required
