  • Overview

    Reporting directly to the Procurement VP of the Americas and dotted line to the Procurement VP of Europe, the Global CapEx Commodity Leader is key to the development of commodity and sourcing strategies within Exide. The Global CapEx Commodity Manager has the responsibility to:

    • Lead global coordination of Capital Expenditures spend ($100M+ annually)
    • Develop, execute and maintain effective Procurement Strategies for CapEx
    • Collaborate with appropriate Manufacturing, Distribution, Quality, Engineering and Corporate counterparts to identify and execute value creation opportunities within the corporate CapEx plan

    The position is measured primarily on value creation, improving cash flow, and reducing material expenses.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement global sourcing  and spend management strategies
    • Develop and drive productivity and value improvement initiatives with suppliers that will bring value to Exide, improve business processes, and provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace
    • Assess global market conditions, identify industry best practices and emerging trends; maximize value creation opportunities through effective strategic planning.
    • Lead and participate in global, cross-functional teams to select appropriate sources that improve value to the organization, and help attain targeted results for product quality, productivity and cost.
    • Develop, grow, and manage relationships with counterparts at key suppliers.
    • Negotiate and implement global contracts with key suppliers.
    • Implement procurement terms with suppliers to ensure flexibility and minimize working capital requirements.
    • Assess ongoing performance of supply base and drive effective performance improvement where applicable
    • Handle other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management

    Qualifications

    Education, Experience, Certifications

    • BA/BS Degree: Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related field is preferred
    • 5+ years of experience working with Capital Expenditure projects in a role that has procurement responsibilities
    • 2 years of direct Commodity Management experience. CPSM and/or CPIM certification preferred.
    • Experience managing multiple suppliers and working in a global role

    • Ability to develop and implement a well-thought-out procurement strategy.
    • Excellent Project Management skills and ability to work cross functionally.
    • Experience in Strategic Sourcing Analysis and implementation.
    • Strong background and ability in administration of contracts.
    • Strong analytical, research and negotiation skills.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level.
    • Ability to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedules.
    • Must be able to problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively.
    • Experience with MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.
