  • Overview

    The HR Manager, Budget and Compliance supports Exide’s goal of Powering the World Forward as we provide world-class stored energy solutions that lead the industry in quality and performance that make a difference in people’s lives. As an individual contributor, you will assist HR Leadership with two primary functional areas - budgeting and compliance. You'll need to be data-focused while having a strong awareness of applicable laws and regulations to enable compliance solutions and programs. We are building a premier HR function - we don't have all the answers. If you like puzzles and solving complex challenges, you will impact the team's and business' success.

    Responsibilities

    Objectives related to Compliance:

    • Partner with Human Resources (both at the headquarters location and field-based), Legal and other functional teams to actively address compliance issues in the workplace (e.g. EEO, wage and hour, etc.). You will lead/initiate audits, determine action steps based on results, and ensure partners take action to achieve the best result for the business.
    • Lead the annual compliance acknowledgement process for employees with a goal of 100% response rate. 
    • Own tracking and compliance for Affirmative Action Plans, EEO-1, Veteran’s Reporting, I-9 and ADA. 
    • Partner with Designated Employer Representatives in administering the Drug and Alcohol Testing Program; acting as a liaison with drug and alcohol testing service agents (FAA, DOT, collection sites, labs, MRO’s, EAP program); and pulling, scheduling and recording random D&A tests.
    • You will become the team's subject matter expert for all matters related to pre-employment, random, and reasonable suspicion testing requirements, including providing guidance and training to management team.
    • Build tracking mechanisms to identify trends and identify areas where additional training or support might be needed

    Objectives related to Budgeting:

    • You will be responsible for the annual budgeting process. Regularly review monthly SG&A actuals against forecast and alert those who have a need to know.
    • With direction from the Chief Human Resources Officer, research financial data for global HR team. Build financial models, evaluate large volumes of information to get an accurate read on business performance, including historic and current budget trends, company financial statements, and develop actionable reports for the HR Leadership team.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree, preferably with a business or HR major, or paralegal certification required
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in HR and/or EEO/Wage & Hour compliance or an equivalent combination of post-graduate education and experience; Previous experience in a HR department, focused on workforce compliance, audits, organizational development and employee investigations.
    • Background in HR Compliance and HR Analytics.
    • Solid knowledge of legal concepts and terminology related to employment discrimination, wage and hour laws, and related areas
    • Solid knowledge of state and federal employment and employee benefit laws, including Title VII, ADA, FLSA, ERISA, ADEA, FMLA,
    • You are process oriented but can be effective working in unstructured work environments
    • While you have prior experience with budgets and forecasting, you have persuasive abilities that are key to success; you know it’s not enough to just crunch the numbers and hope they’ll speak for themselves.
    • Strong capability and demonstrable experience in Excel, including pivot tables, macro development preferred. You know how to add charts and graphs to presentations.
    • Your software agnostic - you can work with a host of systems and understand relational databases. You can take information from disconnected systems and craft complex financial models. 
    • You have effective communications skills to ensure accurate decision-making.
