  • Overview

    Develop, assemble, test and deploy measurement systems in support of manufacturing process control and inspection of products throughout Exide’s Manufacturing and Engineering facilities worldwide.  This position will partner with the Product Engineering, Process Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to identify gaps in current methodologies and bring cost and time effective solutions into the business.  Establishing a system to maintain the capability of measurement systems consistently globally will be key in providing sustainable performance.  The equipment in scope for this role will provide Exide the ability to consistently and accurately evaluate current products and processes, as well as the evaluation and verification of performance characteristics for new products and technologies. As part of Exide’s quality organization, this position will also work on implementation and improvement of quality systems, tools, and practices at Exide’s manufacturing sites.



    • Leverage off-the-shelf instruments or develop new measurement methods to optimize manufacturing processes or inspect the quality of Exide products.
    • Establish methodologies and standards for electrical, dimensional, optical, physical, mechanical, environmental, and chemical measurements
    • Use statistics to analyze measurement standards and processes
    • Perform and lead MSA and Gauge R&R studies
    • Work with engineering on new products and processes to identify proper measurement systems, gauges, and test methods to determine compliance to all internal and external requirements
    • Audit plants/sites for proper gauging, test methods, practices, and MSA studies
    • Establish calibration standards and requirements globally
    • Develop and maintain all analytical test methods (ATM) and procedures
    • Track calibration records
    • Evaluate new calibration methods and procedures
    • Work with Exide manufacturing plants to implement and improve QMS practices including process and product audits, CA/PA, NCMR, and Control Plan adherence
    • Evaluate and improve SPC practices at various Exide manufacturing plants
    • Align all previous details to be global standards in Exide
    • Align labs reporting methods and records
    • Develop a database to record and share analysis report
    • Coordinate laboratories Network (skills and competencies needs, lab utilization vs capacities, coordinate capacity needs and equipment benchmarks, provide inputs for Capex plans)



    Educations, Experience, Certifications:

    • Minimum of 4 year technical degree in science, engineering or quality
    • Demonstrated experience in performing MSA, Gauge R&R, and process capability studies
    • Demonstrated experience or qualification in calibration methods and lab management
    • Experience with QMS practices implementation and improvement in a high volume manufacturing environment– audits, CA/PA, NCMR, Control plan
    • Experience with SPC and capability analysis
    • Experience with leading teams in use of quality tools such as FMEA and problem solving tools (8D, 5Why, Fishbone)
    • 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing and/or laboratory environment
    • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred

    • Strong skills in statistical methods
    • Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong computer skills -Windows-based programs and Minitab
    • Demonstrated leadership skills
    • Proficient in problem solving – root cause analysis, 5 why, etc.
    • Must be quality and customer oriented
    • Knowledgeable in ISO / IATF16949 quality standards and Quality Operating Systems
    • Knowledgeable in APQP methodology; Control Plans, FMEAs, MSAs, and PPAPs
    • Familiar with reliability test methods
    • Able to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment on multiple projects
