Overview

Manage, direct and oversee all aspects of the Columbus, GA facility to include any plant expansion and installation of new equipment for production.  This includes managing plant capital budgets, project management and directing all outside contractors onsite.  Directs the overall engineering and maintenance department for process improvement, problem solving, capital projects, and automated processes.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all CAPEX projects for the plant to include tracking expenditures to ensure all projects remain in budget
  • Manage facility installation projects to equipment, quality, process improvements, cost reductions and increased capacity, utilizing lean manufacturing concepts and tools
  • Directs engineers onsite to ensure equipment will meet all production needs of the plant
  • Works with vendors to receive quotes on projects and oversees completion process
  • Oversee contractors responsible for projects and ensure timeliness and fudiciary obligations are met
  • Follow all health and safety practices
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Plant Manager

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical engineering or related  field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 2 years experience in battery business preferred but not required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in management
  • Ability to work in high-pressure, deadline driven environment
  • Outstanding leaderships skills and ability to delegate responsibilities effectively

 

Competencies, Skills, Knowledge:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both oral/written
  • Advanced computer knowledge to include presentation skills
  • Highly motivated individual
  • Must have advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude

Travel, other requirements:

  • Travel occasionally to other company sites, seminars and workshops; other area plants

Physical Demands

  • Physical demands include, standing, walking and lifting on occasion.  Able to work extended shifts and/or weekends as required.  Able to function well in a dynamic, sometimes stressful environment.

 

Work Environment

  • Industrial environment, both inside and outside the plant. The employee will be exposed to lead, fumes, noise, dirt, hazards, chemicals, heat and cold.
