This position is responsible for ensuring on-time delivery of our products at the lowest cost without compromising quality, while managing and maintaining inventory for the Distribution Center (DC).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the process flow of finished batteries from the Formation department to the customer.
  • Oversees the scheduling of customer orders for production.
  • Directs staff assigned to the DC
  • Ensure shipments are properly loaded and meet all customer, DOT and EPA requirements; to include handling of hazardous waste.
  • Communicate with plant management and corporate transportation agents to maintain OTD and complete customer satisfaction.
  • Managing the financial performance of the assigned department(s) within the DC, to include monitoring appropriate staffing levels, reducing damages and controlling supply costs
  • Recommend compliance procedures, and enforce safety and EPA issues.
  • Ensure that all paperwork, reports, and customer orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement activities, model Lean Manufacturing principles and attend meetings as needed.
  • Audit all areas of responsibility to ensure that procedures and processes are being followed. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical manuals. Effectively communicate across all levels of the organization. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and purchase orders. Must communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate percentages and ratios; solve simple algebraic formulas. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to plan and organize work to maximize efficiency. Anticipate customer needs in order to maintain Best In Class. Solid organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Uses sound judgement to resolve conflicts at the lowest levels.  

 

PHYSICIAL DEMANDS

  • Able to see, hear and speak; able to sit, stand for at least two hours at a time, sit, bend, crawl, squat, kneel and climb.
  • Able to use both arms and hands to use computer, peripherals, and lift 40 pounds from floor level to overhead. Able to work below ground level in confined spaces and on stationary or mobile elevated platforms.
  • Able to wear respirator and other PPE as required.
  • Able to work extended shifts and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • S. or B.A. Degree
  • Six (6) years’ experience managing a distribution center or warehouse or, in lieu of degree, twelve (12) years’ experience managing a distribution center or warehouse #CB
