Overview

Reporting to the Procurement Director of Direct Materials the Raw Materials Commodity Manager is key to the development of commodity and sourcing strategies within Exide. The Raw Materials Commodity Manager has the responsibility to:

  • Lead multiple spend areas including but not limited to Metals, Premium Metals and Chemicals.
  • Develop, execute and maintain effective Procurement Strategies for their assigned commodities.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Distribution, Quality, Technical and Corporate counterparts to identify and execute value creation opportunities within the supply chain and corporate functions.

The position is measured primarily on value creation, improving cash flow, and reducing material expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sourcing  and spend management objectives and strategies.
  • Develop and drive productivity and value improvement initiatives with suppliers that will bring value to Exide, improve business processes, and provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
  • Assess market conditions, identify industry best practices and emerging trends; identify new value creation opportunities through effective strategic planning.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to select appropriate sources that improve value to the organization, and help attain targeted results for product quality, service to sales and profit.
  • Develop, grow, and manage relationships with counterparts at key suppliers.
  • Negotiate and implement contracts with key suppliers.
  • Implement procurement policies with suppliers to ensure flexibility and minimize working capital requirements.
  • Assess ongoing performance of supply base and drive effective performance improvement.
  • Handle other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Certifications:

  • BA/BS Degree: Degree in Supply Chain Management , Engineering or related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Procurement Management role. CPSM and/or CPIM certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in creating strategic procurement plans and evidence of being able to effectively communicate those plans to all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated cross-functional team leadership

 

Competencies, Skills, Knowledge:

  • Ability to develop and implement a well-thought-out procurement strategy.
  • Excellent Project Management and ability to work cross functionally.
  • Experience in Strategic Sourcing Analysis and implementation.
  • Strong background and ability in administration of contracts.
  • Strong analytical, research and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level.
  • Ability to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedules.
  • Must be able to problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience with MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.

  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment

Travel of up to 30% may be required
