The CAD Designer position is a motivated technical team member that has responsibilities to support the Product Engineering team. This position will have primary responsibility for generating product and component drawings related to custom tray orders, product component updates (grids, container/cover, etc), supplied components and miscellaneous tooling requests. These CAD responsibilities also include managing and maintaining the drawing database and related CAD file conversions. A key emphasis for this position is supporting custom battery ordering which includes custom tray design as well as compiling the full battery BOM with cells and accessories that meet the requested specifications. This position will also have a secondary role to support electrical product testing, analytical materials testing, product teardown analysis and field testing site support as time permits. This position will be located at the KC MP plant facility and report to the MP Product Engineering Manager. CAD project scope includes minor modifications/updates to existing drawings as well as full design work on new parts/drawings. Custom battery design includes tray design, component selection, BOM generation and Engineering Change Order completion. Secondary electrical testing tasks include conducting capacity and life cycle tests in the Product Test Lab while analytical testing tasks include conducting TGA, BET and XRD tests using the equipment in the KC QA lab to support development projects. This team member will interface with a broad range of internal team members and other departments (Operations, Engineering, Sales/Marketing, Quality, etc). Externally, this position will interface directly with customers, agents, field service people as well as component suppliers (trays and accessories). This person must have excellent communication skills, provide timely and thorough follow-up and have a strong customer satisfaction focused attitude.
