Overview

The Director of Indirect Procurement - Americas will insure achievement of division goals by managing the indirect supply base.   This includes setting the overall strategy for indirect procurement in partnering with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering and other key departments to meet the objectives of the business.  The Director of Indirect Procurement must define segmentation, targeting and positioning for the supply base that results in optimizing quality, cost and delivery to support the business.  They must also manage the indirect procurement team including: supplier selection and providing leadership and coaching to the team on negotiations involving capital equipment, MRO/Tooling, consumables, IT, etc is a key element of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic plan for indirect procurement and coordinate with Procurement, VP and counterpart in Europe to develop the overall business plan
  • Act as main liaison between suppliers and engineering/quality/manufacturing to ensure development of optimal supply solutions
  • Manage panel of indirect suppliers to drive and maintain the most competitive pricing and payment terms
  • Responsible for year over year cost savings on repeat buy, beating or meeting budgets for CapEx and driving improvement in working capital through improved payment terms
  • Responsible for indirect procurement team achieving all other applicable desired KPI results
  • Identify new opportunities through technology or ingenious supply solutions to better position the companies costs on indirect material
  • Identify opportunities for global synergies through partnering with the EMEA Indirect Sourcing Leader by leveraging the total volume in the business
  • Own the coordination and recommendations to the Procurement VP for hedging utilities including electricity, natural gas and diesel
  • Recommend actions to improve business working capital to achieve quarterly and annual targets
  • Perform quarterly reviews with key strategic indirect suppliers
  • Engage early with Engineering to ensure procurement is in an optimal position to impact cost and working capital on CapEx projects
  • Coach team members and/or lead key negotiations
  • Lead commodity segment reviews with the Procurement VP

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Certifications:

  • College degree
  • MBA preferred
  • At least 10 years of supply chain experience in manufacturing or procurement
  • 5 years in procurement, purchasing or sourcing
  • Indirect or CapEx experience is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in creating strategic procurement plans and evidence of being able to effectively communicate those plans to all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated direct and cross-functional team leadership

  • Summarize business and financial data in a useful manner for planning and decision making
  • Convey understanding of market conditions and trends impacting the indirect supply base
  • Stay abreast of worldwide segment developments and opportunities
  • Respond to the unique needs of individual factories or facilities
  • Seek feedback from suppliers and internal customers to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Executive level communications and selling skills
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft suite of products.
