The Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer will work within the Electronic Systems Engineering on a small inter-disciplinary engineering team overseeing mechanical design. Main responsibilities will be the mechanical design, test, fabrication and certification of power electronics devices with the associated enclosures. The primary products work in conjunction with industrial batteries. Power electronics products include but are not limited to rectifiers, power conditioners, and battery chargers. The position requires a high attention to details and ability to be extremely hands-on.


The following are essential duties and responsibilities that the position requires. Other duties may be assigned as required

  • Oversee Mechanical Design of present and future products
  • Establish CAD and design standards
  • Institute Design for Manufacturability principles
  • Analyze thermal management of modules and systems
  • Work with certification labs to satisfy UL, CSA and CE requirements
  • Specification development
  • Test Verification Requirements


The position requires 15+ years of experience in designing and overseeing electronics/electrical industrial products.  The specific qualifications are:

  • Expert in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis tools
  • Thermal Management of Power Electronics
  • Heat-sink design
  • Sheet-metal design
  • CNC design
  • Design for Manufacturability
  • Writing design and performance specifications
  • Design and definition of mechanical verification testing
  • UL, CSA and CE enclosure design
  • Understanding of electrical power fundamentals
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles



Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering as a minimum
