Overview

The position is responsible purchasing all production items required in the plant and all production related purchased parts used in the finishing and shipping departments of the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all requirements reflect proper and correct lead time and quantities expected to fulfill the weekly production of cells.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of materials for plant and DC
  • Champion the Strategic sourcing initiatives in Columbus.
  • Set up minimum/maximum inventories on parts for MSB DC.
  • Identify problem vendors and find secondary sources.
  • Order and ensure maintenance parts are maintained. 
  • Order special parts for plant maintenance.
  • Issue Purchase Order for plant supplies.
  • Maintain J.D. Edwards’s records.
  • Identify and negotiate prices for supplies.
  • Follow health and safety practices as they apply to work and facility.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Manager and Facilities Engineer.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Certifications:

  • Associate degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Two to four years experience in a manufacturing environment.

 

Competencies, Skills, Knowledge:

  • Highly motivated individual with good communication skills.
  • Effective communications, written and verbal.
  • Good computer skills including use of Word, Excel and other software.
  • Initiative and willingness to take on multiple projects.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret  company policies and procedures;
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers, customer and management. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math skills required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions on the work that needs to be performed.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, plant and Corporate polices and procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Individual will be working in office environment, standing and walking throughout the plant.
