Responsible for waste water treatment and coordinating, manifesting and disposal of hazardous waste. Ensure compliance is maintained with state and federal regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, DOT, and Department of Natural Resources regarding programs such as RCRA requirements, storm water runoff, Tier II, maintaining NPDES standards, and groundwater monitoring. Works within established agency policy, procedure, practice, and regulation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
Operate and maintain waste water treatment facility and resolve systems operating problems as they arise. Conduct preventive maintenance and make minor repairs and assist with major repairs to waste water treatment system.
Ensure compliance with NPDES water quality standards and maintain precise records. Maintain, develop, and implement MSDS files and wastewater operations manual. Maintains recordkeeping for DNR, RCRA, and other files to ensure regulatory compliances.
Assists in completing timely LIA testing, dosimeter and storm water run off testing in accordance with OSHA, RCRA, and DNR requirements.
Ensure proper handling, labeling, accumulation, disposal, loading and manifesting of hazardous waste in accordance with all RCRA requirements.
Assist Environmental and Safety Manager as needed.
Conduct numerous daily/weekly/monthly safety, fire protection, RCRA, OSHA, and DNR required inspections to help maintain regulatory compliance as required.
Assist with training requirements as required with maintenance, forklifts and all employee personnel by Exide, DNR, OSHA, etc.
Basic understanding of chemistry is required. Working knowledge of proper sampling techniques, calibration, and waste handling problem solving. General knowledge of RCRA, OSHA, DNR codes and requirements. Experienced in completing and complying with paperwork associated with OSHA, RCRA, EPA, and DNR standards. AA, BS or BA degree is preferred.
