Overview

The position of the Controller, under the direction of the VP Finance-Americas, is a key member of the leadership and financial team used to manage the financial reporting and control functions of an Exide Technologies plant in Vernon, CA through its decommissioning process, in accordance with company objectives and procedures. This critical position is responsible for the administration of company accounting policies, procedures, and systems along with defining and implementing financial control procedures, systems and standards as may be required for the proper performance of the accounting function within the limits of approved company practice. The position will be responsible for providing Financial support to the Project Director and the Plant Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial functions within the facility(s) including accounts payable and purchasing.
  • Validate the accuracy of all P&L accounts as well those balance sheets designated as the responsibility of the plant controller.
  • Provide PMO Financial support.
  • Ensure that assets are safeguarded in accordance with the requirements of SOX 404
  • Advise leadership team of changes in financial performance and/or trends and provide suggested remedial actions to ensure achievement of financial objectives.
  • Provide the leadership team with accurate and timely financial information that can be used to make fact based decisions.
  • Prepare plant related financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and company policy.
  • Insure compliance with proper internal controls.
  • Analyze cost performance to note trends or changes in operations; control costs to improve financial performance.
  • Provide financial support on special projects as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years accounting experience required.
  • B.S. degree in accounting required.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA preferred.
  • Experience with Heavy Manufacturing, Construction, or Environmental Remediation.
  • Experience preparing expense budgets and forecasts is required
  • Experience with large, multi-site operations in large company
  • Comfort and experience in dealing with State and Environmental agencies
  • Experience communicating with Senior Manager and Executive level (Directors, VPs, Exec VPs)
  • Position will be located in Vernon, Ca.  Position will interact with and communicate with the Corporate accounting team (FP&A, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Corporate accountants)
  • JD Edwards MRP System experience a plus.
