Overview

The facilities manager is responsible for maintaining all facility infrastructure systems e.g. electrical power distribution, water distribution, compressed air, natural gas, HVAC, and grounds keeping. Direct and coordinate internal facilities technicians, engineers, and external contractors to maintain building infrastructure systems. Determine opportunities to minimize facility operating cost, justification for capital improvement projects, and execute project management of capital investment projects.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for defining and maintaining preventative facility and grounds maintenance activities including annual inspections and regulatory requirements.
  2. Plan, direct, coordinate, and control daily activities and resources involved in facility and grounds maintenance activities. 
  3. Responsible for managing design, project planning, construction and/or modification of existing or new buildings including compliance with all regulatory bodies.
  4. Develop plans, budgets and schedules for facility construction/modification, including estimates of labor, materials, equipment and other related costs.
  5. Will identify and justify capital improvement projects.
  6. Will coordinate joint activities with outside contractors and ensure all contractors compile with company EHS guidelines.
  7. Will be responsible for all aspects of physical plant and grounds security.
  8. Advise and assist on issues affecting utilities services, facility design, layout, preventive equipment maintenance issues, etc.
  9. Responsible for facilities department staffing, budgets, and expenses.
  10. Will analyze facility operations to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency while minimizing expenses.
  11. Will perform other duties as assigned by Engineering Management.

Physical Requirements:
Sitting, Standing, and Walking as necessary.

 

Equipment Used:
General office equipment/PC

 

Education, Experience, Skills Required
A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Construction Engineering or a related field, a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a facilities engineering capacity in construction or a plant environment is required, 5 to 8 years maintenance supervision or management, OR, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
