Overview

Starting pay is $17.58 per hour plus shift differentials

 

The responsibility of the Assembly Operator is to work safely, produce high quality products in an efficient manner, and learn other positions on the line.

Responsibilities

  1. Employee is required to repeatedly lift and handle battery parts, envelope materials, elements and batteries weighing from grams to 60 pounds.
  2. Continuous and repetitive loading of plates into feed magazines and some hand stacking of positive and negative plates.
  3. Perform first piece set-up, weld breaks, and weld analysis.
  4. Will process 1200-2400 batteries per 12-hour shift.
  5. Work with a multiple-person team in an area containing electrical powered machinery, torches, lead melting pots, conveyors, computers, and ventilation equipment.
  6. Must learn and follow quality control specifications, maintain accurate and timely SPC charts, 002 forms, and other material control documents.
  7. Will be exposed to lead (dust, fumes, and molten form), hot glue, and other hazards.
  8. Must be able to understand and communicate in basic English to receive training, instructions and perform team responsibilities.
  9. Recognize & Record scrap during shift when required.
  10. Fill out JD Edwards reconciliation form, end of shift.
  11. Maintain a clean and orderly work area in accordance with 5s requirements.
  12. Comply with safety and health regulations for the protection of self and fellow workers.
  13. Follow Lean Manufacturing Procedures.
  14. Comply with current Quality Systems requirements.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Management Team.
  16. Follow safety policies to include use of PPE.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting from grams to 50 pounds
  • Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, stooping and pulling.
  • Continuous Standing and Walking for 12-hour shift.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, respirator, safety glasses, and metatarsal guard shoes, etc., as required in established policy.
  • May sometimes be exposed to extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid).
  • Must work from 10 inches to 60 inches above the floor and reach 24 inches side to side.

Equipment Used:

  • Small hand tools, numerous types of powered equipment and control panels, hoists, torches, platen carts, safety equipment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment as required.

Education, Experience, Skills Required

  • Mechanical Aptitude Preferred
  • Previous Manufacturing or Related Experience Preferred
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
